Technologically advanced in-line or stand-alone systems for detecting dimensional and cosmetic defects
100% inline controls to ensure premium-quality containers
Checking the quality of the glass forming process is crucial to reduce rejects and keep the dimensions of glass containers and their cosmetic appearance within the tight tolerances requested by pharmaceutical companies.

Inline dimensional and cosmetic controls
The automatic camera inspection is a primary technique to ensure optimal setting-up of the machine and monitoring the efficiency of the process: this explains why pharmaceutical companies consider it a fundamental requirement. Thanks to our deeply rooted connection with the pharma industry, we develop and manufacture control systems satisfying the most demanding requirements.
Dimensional Controls
Our dimensional control systems perform 100% measuring of all the dimensions of a glass container, providing valuable data on the machine’s performance efficiency and processing to the operator.
Lines can be equipped with one camera or multiple cameras depending on the number of exits on the machine, and are positioned to inspect the mouth and shoulder areas of vials and cartridges. For syringes, different cameras are designed to inspect the cone and the flange.

The post-forming line features electromechanical gauges designed to measure the overall length of the container, the concavity of the bottom – for vials – and the flange thickness for syringes. Additional cameras can be added to check the inner diameter of the mouth and cone.

Multiple eyes to ensure top quality
Our inline cosmetic controls, installed on the conveyor line from the annealing oven to the packing unit, accurately inspect each part of the container. They detect the most critical defects, including contamination, scratches, deformations, bubbles, pressure marks, airlines, chips and cracks.
Different configurations are available based on the container and customer requirements, with the possibility to install up to 9 camerasfor a 360° cosmetic inspection of glass containers

Highly performance off-line inspection equipment
The pharmaceutical industry is demanding extreme cosmetic quality of the containers as scratches and fractures can cause problems during downstream proceses. Automatic inspection systems can guarantee the effectiveness and reliability of controls.
To meet the converting companies requirements, Stevanato Group has designed EVA, an off-line machine capable of processing vials coming from multiple lines and inspecting them at high speed.
EVA is equipped with a high-performance camera inspection system that detects cosmetic defects along the entire surface of the vials (body, shoulder, neck, collar, flange surface, bottom side), such as cracks, scratches, airlines, bubbles, dirt marks, etc.
Dimensional and cosmetic controls
Highlights
Thanks to its high speed – up to 12,000 pieces per hour – it can process the output of several vial forming machines simultaneously
The machine is extremely flexible and can cover the full range of standard vials
The containers can be loaded on trays or on a conveyor. Unloading can occur either on trays or directly on a conveyor
The machine is manufactured with FDA-approved materials and components and is therefore suitable for operating in a pharmaceutical environment
The machine can be equipped with one additional station for the dimensional inspection
